Criteria for Scholarship

In order to determine if an individual will qualify for scholarship, Renewal Retreats will look at financial need and will also take into consideration who will most benefit from our programs.

The application process for general scholarship will involve two steps. The applicant will provide the following:

  • The past year’s tax return to determine financial need
  • A personal statement

For general scholarships, financial need will be determined based on the number of people in the household and will fall into the following scale:

1) A family unit consisting of two total members (a single parent and one child), where the annual income is $35,000-$50,000 will qualify for 50% assistance on our programs.
2) A family unit consisting of 3 or more total members (a single parent and more than one child, or a two-parent household with one or more child), where the annual combined income is $35,000- $50,000 will qualify for 100% assistance on our programs. The family’s contribution would be transportation to the workshop and participation in the program.
3) A family unit of any size whose total combined income is less than $35,000 will qualify for 100 assistance on our programs. The family’s contribution would be transportation to the workshop and participation in the program.

Renewal Retreats seeks to provide scholarship for one infividual per scheduled retreat. If no individuals have applied for scholarship, Renewal Retreats may seek out a recipient and will offer a discount based on the following:

  • A recommendation from the retreat leader
  • A personal statement from the recipient

The amount of scholarship provided in this case willl be determined by the retreat leader’s input and the statement of the recipient.
